First & Second Place — 32nd Edition
Newfoundland woodland caribou carry some of the heaviest antler mass in North America. The isolation of the herds, combined with limited hunting pressure and deep wilderness terrain, produces animals that are consistently larger, older, and more impressive than what most hunters ever encounter.
Our area is specifically managed for trophy-quality bulls. You won’t find these genetics or this caliber of animal in heavily pressured zones.
During the 32nd Edition of the Boone and Crockett Records, woodland caribou taken by Mayflower Outfitters hunters placed First Place and Second Place.
We maintain a 100% success rate on trophy woodland caribou hunts.
The quality of these animals speaks for itself.
Our woodland caribou hunts take place during the rut, from mid-October through early November.
This is when mature stags push the does out of the timber and herd them in open country for breeding. At the same time, they drive off satellite stags and assert dominance. That movement makes mature bulls visible and huntable.
We glass herds carefully, identify the right stag, and make a deliberate stalk. Each hunter is paired one-on-one with an experienced guide, and we scout the region before your arrival to ensure we are hunting known herds with quality animals.
This is not a numbers hunt. It is a focused pursuit of a mature woodland trophy.
Only 5 woodland caribou hunts remain for the 2026 season — and 2027 is fully booked.
We intentionally limit hunters each year to maintain quality and protect mature age structure.
Once these five spots are filled, the 2026 season is closed.

All hunts are conducted from our private lodge at Lane’s Pond.
Separate guest accommodations built from local wood overlook the water. The main lodge, with fireplace and dining area, is where we gather each evening.

Comfortable lodging. Professional guiding.

“The hunts they provide are outstanding in every way from accommodations to food and most importantly putting me on quality animals. Every guide works extremely hard to get you on a great caribou no matter what it takes.”
“…I had a wonderful trip — the bonus being the Boone and Crockett trophy class caribou we harvested. The meals provided by Craig were better than a five star restaurant, the cabins on the lake were first class, and the guides all worked together to produce excellent results.”
